I have approached my first full week in the Lone Star State.  It is quite enjoyable to learn after so many years of being ridiculously “busy” that life can actually slow down to be enjoyable and somewhat stress free.  Maybe that is just what it’s like once you realize your true calling in life?  I’m sure I’ll have some bad days, but my stress level may actually be reduced in the next several months.  The only trouble I have encountered with school is that outside of the Tennis Tech program (which is amazing), the rest of this college is a hassle & reminds me that there is still complete ignorance in the world when it comes to administrative decisions.  Apparently, because my bachelor’s degree is not from within the last 3-4 years (try 6), it somehow negates my intelligence, and I was turned away from filling an application out to be a tutor on campus while I’m here.  Now, of course, had my degree been in Math or Biology, they would have made an exception…???  Does that seem strange to anyone else?  They wouldn’t even let me be an sign up to be an Academic Counselor, where you help students with study skills & learning what they are strong in, etc….even though I have all the experience in the world with that type of advice.  Honestly, it took all I had not to look at the woman behind the desk as if she had three heads.  Who knows, I probably failed and did give her a dirty look.  I might still be in a shock – Why on earth would a person even waste all of their money on college education if when you go to another college institution, they are going to somehow discredit your achievement?  Disappointing.

Oh well, I have managed to make it through the entire week, play tennis four of five days, work out at the gym one day, meet up with a few new friends & rather enjoy my days relaxing at the tennis complex that just might be one of the prettiest I have ever been to outside of professional tennis stadiums.  The US Open starts this coming week, so we get to actually watch and discuss it in classes, which is totally awesome in my book.  I am pretty satisfied over all, but I’m definitely starting to gather some thoughts to blog about in more depth later.  As for now, I need to get ready to play tennis for a few hours 🙂
