As I finish up reading Dr. Brené Brown’s phenomenal book, Daring Greatly, I am compelled to share an excerpt from her final thoughts. She starts and ends the book with a wonderful quote by Theodore Roosevelt, which I’ll picture here in the blog. Her parting thoughts are to me, truthful, inspiring, hard, and beautiful. She says:

Daring greatly is not about winning or losing. It’s about courage. In a world where scarcity and shame dominate and feeling afraid has become second nature, vulnerability is subversive. Uncomfortable. It’s even a little dangerous at times. And, without question, putting ourselves out there means there’s a far greater risk of feeling hurt. But as I look back on my own life and what Daring Greatly has meant to me, I can honestly say that nothing is as uncomfortable, dangerous, and hurtful as believing that I’m standing on the outside of my life looking in and wondering what it would be like if I had the courage to show up and let myself be seen. -Brené Brown

So, to anyone that decides to read this today…and a written accountability to myself as I’ve ventured out on a task of my own this past year & will continue to do whether anyone notices; daring greatly as I’ve fumbled through finishing this positively challenging book, I dare you, today, to be vulnerable. Take the risk. No step is too small if it is outside what you would normally be comfortable speaking or showing. Share your story. How will you show courage today?

    1. Indeed they are! Thank you for reading my post 🙂 I may not read fast, but I am so happy that I haven’t allowed that to shape my love for books!
